Out and About

Well I am officially a marking machine. Truly. I finished all those culminating tasks last weekend and now I am onto 59 final exams. I have done about 12 at this point, but I have a day off today so I am sure I will get at least half done. I have to get report cards in for Thursday, with comments and "learning skills". I think I put homework skills for my 5th period class as "Needs Improvement". Except for maybe 3 kids.


I was out and about this weekend and happened to get some coffee at a very nice place, as I was putting milk and sugar in my coffees, and I quickly asked the lady at the counter if I could have a tray. Little did I know that I was disturbing a crazy lady. The lady turned and looked at me and said, " EXUSE ME I am having a conversation here". I said "Sorry I just wanted a tray". "Someone should teach you manners, young lady...." "Well thanks for the lesson lady". "Ugh.. young people today, no one teaches them anything. I bet her parents didn't even teach her manners".

It took everything in me not to respond back, in a way not becoming to a lady. If that was something that was considered extremely rude...well what about all the other rude things kids say to me everyday.............And I wonder how kids get their superiority complexes. Proof is in the pudding. Or shall I say coffee......

Done?

153 papers done and inputed on Markbook. Now I have 59 Final Exams to mark. But I have a week and a half to do that.

Wow this semester went by fast. I wonder how much of my sanity has really been taken, and how much of my grammar has been screwed up by kids who can't write a proper sentence, or tell the difference between then and than. Really the majority of kids I had were pretty good... some a little mean, some a little bitchy and some just lazy.

I ate some Indian food today to reward myself for all the marking. I should really get myself diamonds instead.

I have 153 papers to mark. That is 51 students x 3 separate tasks. I also have 51 presentations to assess. So. I don't remember any tasks in high school being like this. My department head.. who is awesome by the way, must be a marking machine. Truly. She has made all of the grade 10 teachers assign three tasks for each grade 10 class. Today I was in the library for 3.5 hours, and I finished 41 papers. I need to get them back to the kiddos by Tuesday. Final exams start on Wednesday. I am so screwed. I will have to mark for 10 hours tomorrow. I am going to need to drink some wine tonight. God bless my dear bf, cause I am probably a giant ball of stress.

The kids are becoming more and more apathetic. 2 minutes late, 3 minutes, 5, 10...etc.......

I was supposed to assessed this past Wednesday. I threatened my first period class with death if they were not on time. It was like the Amazing Race outside my portable that day... my kids were running as though a million dollar prize was on the line. I love my first period kiddos. So, the reason I did not get assessed is the VP responsible for me, had some sort of emergency and couldn't make it. I even had an exciting lesson plan and on time kids! Blegh. Now it will have to be next semester.

I need some wine now. Please stop me if I become a raging alcoholic next semester.

Snow Day?

Is it sad that I am hoping there is a snow day so I can finish the ridiculous pile of marking I got after I just finished a pile of marking..............?

Blegh. I probably won't get a snow day.
